Apply for Austin Art Boards

Have you seen those billboards around Austin with local art and wondered how to get your work up there? How cool would it be to see one of your pieces high above to city for anyone and everyone to enjoy? Reagan Advertising in conjunction with the Austin Visual Arts Association is offering you that chance by filling their unused billboards with local talent! What better gallery than the whole city? I'm planning to share some of my photography. How about you?

WHO: Any and all artists who live and / or work in Travis, Williamson, or Hays counties are welcome to apply with any of their original work.

WHAT: Each artist can enter one piece of any media. The billboards will represented in 2 dimensions, so 3D work will have to be shared as a photograph. These boards are long, landscape format, so all pieces will need to be 6 x 24 aspect ratio. You can include a cropped portion of your work to fit the specs or include several related works as one piece. The only limitation is family friendly content since anyone driving by can see these billboards.

WHERE: Art Boards will be all over Austin on available billboards (until they are booked by a commercial client). The artwork will be moved when billboards are sold which actually offers more exposure for the local talent.

WHEN: Entries are due to Skyline Printing by Friday, September 15, 2017 by 4PM. Winners will be notified by October 20th. Selected works will grace selected billboards around Austin for a year (until the next batch of winners are chosen).

HOW: There is no entry fee, just submit a copy of your work along with the application. The required specs are 6" x 24” and each piece must be matted on black or white matte board 2 inch border (matte sized to 10” x 28”). Digital files can also be submitted at 300 dpi .Jpg or .Pdf formats to Skyline Prints, but hardcopies are encouraged. Follow Austin Art Boards on Facebook to keep up to date.

WHY: Show your work to all of Austin with outdoor exposure on large scale billboards. Help people recognize your art when they see it at events or in galleries after having driven by it all year. What a neat way to turn empty advertising space into outdoor galleries!

Enjoy these examples from last year's entries! Good luck!
