Calendar Planning for Q4

Can you believe it's almost October?! That means we are embarking on Q4, which is the most wonderful time of year, but for artists and makers, it's also often the busiest time of year. Chances are you've already applied to the big end of year events, and you've gotten your acceptances, so now it's time to start planning. You'll need to account for inventory, special holiday collections, marketing, and more. The sooner you get yourself organized, the more smoothly these three months will go. Mixing Your Social Media

Is it just me or does there seem to be a new social network every week? These platforms come in and out of style, so how do you know which ones are worth the investment? As we’ve talked about, social media takes time – it’s a marathon – so you want to choose wisely before you hop on board with every new option. First of all, you won’t have time to make art if you try to be active across all social media. Plus, you’re more likely to drop off and leave behind an inactive account that leads some to question whether or not you’re still an artist. The good news is that you shouldn’t try to be everywhere. Pick a few social channels that benefit you and stay strong in your activity. If you’re wondering how to choose, I’m here to help you!

Turn Your Passion Into Profits

Pardon the cheesy title (I love a good alteration). I want to help you make a living doing what you love. Maybe you're already following your dream, but want to evaluate opportunities for improvement, growth, more stability. Or perhaps you haven't taken the leap yet, and you're wondering how you even get started. How do you translate what energizes you into something people will pay for? Do you have options other than what we traditionally think of for artists? Yes, there is a whole spectrum from hobbyist to creative professional, and where you find your spot will vary by medium and market. While I don't have a guide map for each of you, I want to help you start your journey and  keep moving forward, no matter where the path may take you. Successfully turning your passions in to money making opportunities takes research, planning, experimentation, all efforts focused on honing in what you have to offer. So let's get started!

The Art of Email Marketing

In this day and age, it's hard to find someone who doesn't have an email address or even a couple (I have at least 3). We use them for work and our personal lives to get messages from colleagues, clients, friends and family as well as news and commercial outlets. When we choose to sign up for email newsletters, it's usually to stay connected and informed without having to seek out the information. The updates just come to us. As an artist with shows, sales and other news, wouldn't you want to keep in touch with your supporters, fans and potential buyers? Email is ideally suited for relationship building and providing value, two core concepts in growing your customer base, no matter what industry you're in.
