The Secret to Success as an Artist

If you're reading this, it's likely that you have or want to start a creative business and make a living off your Art. Let me first say Congratulations! I've always loved Photography, but it took me a while to fully dedicate myself to this passion, and now I get to do meaningful work every day!

The most important thing I believe we all need to know as Artists, the secret to finding success as a self-employed handmade business owner is ... There is no one-size-fits-all solution.

Does that mean give up? No. It just means that you're in for a journey, one that's very much worth it if you have the means. I'm not merely referring to financial means, but its fair to say that success requires an investment. Its even more important you believe in yourself and have the willingness to hustle. Talent is beneficial, but hard work is better. Vision will guide you, but perseverance will help you drive results. You may not know exactly where you want to go, but if you get in the studio and create, you'll be on your way.

There are tons of maps out there to guide you (yes, lots of resources like this blog dedicated to handmade business owners), but know that there will be some paths better suited for a friend or competitor that might not take you where you want to go. As such, I ask that you be willing to experiment, learn from successes as much as setbacks and keep on pushing. It will all be worth it! Most creatives are born collectors, you never know what tools or inspiration will help you execute your next great idea. Be a collector of knowledge and experiences! That is the real secret.

What I plan to share in this blog will be a wealth of tips and opportunities for Artists and handmade business owners. I can't tell you for sure what will work for your endeavors because no one knows, but I can support you with the resources and encouragement to further your goals. I'm here to help you share your Art with the world. With exposure comes new customers, and we can craft that journey together!

"Success is not a destination, but the road that you're on. Being successful means that you're working hard and walking your walk every day. You can only live your dream by working hard towards it. That's living your dream." - Marlon Wayans
